Sugar Spinning & Tutu Making

As it turns out, I make a better tutu-maker than a chef, and the proof to follow,

Last night, I opted to trade my bath slot for tutu-making for Tantra (yep, you heard me right). Tools of the trade? 1/2 meter of candy pink tulle, velvet ribbon, velcro, a sewing machine that took me nearly an hour to figure out where the thread is supposed to go, and a live overweight chihuahua mannequin ;p 40 minutes later, the results were surprising (even to me) lol! now, I want to make free tutus for everyone! Queue please ;p

I wish I could say the same though for my first attempt at spun sugar, but I seriously think I was cheated by Martha with the recipe, quelle horreur!

Horrifying scene of a very cluttered kitchen withstanding, the outcome wasn't entirely miserable. I managed to wrap my clotted spun-sugar around fresh strawberries, pistache, and rose sauce for Friday dessert. Will I take a second strike at this recipe? Definitely yes, but the key question is 'when'. Not anytime soon.

Lots of love x

Poochy Visa
Tantra curled up in my moroccan jalabeya when I took it off, and then fell asleep -- how cute is that?

She always does it, & I always miss it when I go away, which made me wonder, does a dog need a visa to travel? We'll find out tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, it looks like I'm coming down with a cold, perfect timing to royally ruin my weekend, non? -- I was thinking of spending my time near my grandmother who's currently being hospitalized after experiencing a stroke, but I wonder if her immunity level can tolerate a flu? My gut feeling, no.

Let's see what becomes of this until the morning, night night

Today, Yesterday, & Before
Yesterday: Saison Francias hosts a fashion show in Abu Dhabi with Etoile group -- the verdict? comme ci comme ça, just like I said on twitter page; the tan, the curls, & the red lipstick? HOT!

The day before: had a lovely time with the girls; Jewels, Flamboyant, & Um-Sushi ;p & had a viewing of Flamboyant's telephone designs <3 I vote for her to go full on business and open her own boutique, what's your vote?

Today: Tantra tweets about IB & the rest -- such a drama queen who thinks it's too hot for clothes, apparently.

One of the many things I love about the weekend is that I get to stay home & do NOTHING everything. I woke up early in the morning to undo my curtains & look at the sky outside my window; the sky -deliciously tantalizing me- was bright, the air was crisp, and almost tempted me to desert all plans I had for the day but be a full-on domestic goddess.

Animated by the idea of experimenting the making of pisctache cupcakes, I ran down the stairs to prep the kitchen and ingredients for the recipe. I didn't know where to start nor what the end result would be, but decided that it didn't matter: 'today would be the kiss experiment and tell day' I thought to myself.

I used my basic cupcake recipe, added a few more ingredients to it, and poured the batter into the tiny paper cupcakes and into the over -- 20 minutes later, the kitchen smelled of freshly bakes pistache cupcakes waiting to be iced.
But that wasn't enough to satisfy my impassioned curiosity..
I recalled having Galler's mini burgers a while back with friends and thinking their meat-patties needed a serious face-lift, apart from that, I loved everything about those tiny burgers.
Homemade mini-burgers were my next experiment for the day
A while back I invented this burger recipe that members of the family loved insanely, but what was more insane than that is that it was the most random recipe I have ever come up with -- seriously. I to make it so many times that eventually I grew sick of it, and now, every time someone asks for it my heart diverts into alien channels -thanks to Hind lol

The second time around, I had to start from scratch -- my new recipe would use the minimalist's approach, focusing on 1 or 2 key ingredients and their taste when combined together. I spent the afternoon working those small (but thick) patties, wrapping each one individually in wax-paper preparing them for the grill.

I don't I ever said this before about any self-invented recipe, but this one is a winner: I loved it! My best burger recipe yet - vote endorsed by a couple of friends and my brother..
..Now all I have to do is keep it a secret from Hind.

P.S. Hind, ..I love you? *innocent puppy eyes

Pooch Makeover
BEFORE: On the way to get a fur-cut

During..

Legs: Before & After

A toy poodle for real <3

<3 <3 <3

Grooming for dogs is sort of like The Swan for humans; they step in as one person, & step out as a completely different one -You never know what you're gonna get. Nicholas made my fur-ball look more like a poodle, and less like a pillow (did I mention that my driver's first remark about Tokyo was that he looked like a pillow? honest lol!).

Nicholas is this hilaaaaarious & tres dramatique Philippino dog groom that gave Tokyo a fur-cut (& more?) today. It was Tokyo's first grooming experience ever, which I thought went well for a first timer despite the fact that he was clinched to my clothes with a pair of "helllllp meeee!" puppy eyes that attracted an audience of 5 into that tiny little grooming room. Just watch the videos ;p

Highlight du jour? Nicholas, by far lol!
